Black and White Photography of Paul Politis
Black and white photography: The geometry of the mundane
Black and white photography has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a black and white photographer since the mid-1980’s and I first began showcasing my photography online on my website starting in 1998. I’ve gotten much more serious about pursuing personal photography as an expressive medium since early 2017.
Much of my recent work falls into the street photography aesthetic of candid and spontaneous photographs made of found scenes within the urban landscape, and urban abstract photography, with a strong affinity for what I think of as the geometry of the mundane, a preoccupation with form. Often, my work leans toward the abstract.
About black and white photographer Paul Politis
In the past, my black and white photography has appeared or been reviewed in several magazines internationally, including Shutterbug Magazine, Black & White Photography (UK), The American Muse, Black + White Photography Magazine, and PhotoEd Magazine. You can read more here.
Please take the time to view my work in the photo galleries. My recent work can probably be best described as formalist urban black and white photography, black and white abstract photography and black and white street photography (with some colour street photography as well).
About my photography influences
I’ve been inspired by countless artists and black and white photographers over the years as my tastes and interests have evolved. Among my photography influences/inspirations are black and white photographers Lee Friedlander, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ray Metzker, Saul Leiter (both his black and white and colour work), and colour photographers William Eggleston and Harry Gruyaert, to name just a few.
