How I mat, package and ship prints

This page contains some more information, along with photographs, on how I mat, package and ship prints.
I personally print, mat and package all of my prints.
Matting the Print
As of this writing (April 2008), I am using white 4-ply Crescent Select Conservation Matboards for the overmats. The backing-board is sturdy foam-core.
The mat opening is bottom-weighted.
Prints are hinged using acid-free artist's tape.
The print itself is titled, dated and signed on the back. The overmat is signed and dated. In the case of limited edition prints, the overmat and the print itself are also numbered.
Packaging prints for shipment
The print itself is packaged in an acid-free crystal clear bag, and is then sandwiched between two sturdy pieces of cardboard. The sandwiched print is then wrapped in bubble-wrap, and placed in a sturdy corrugated cardboard box.
The photo on the right shows a packaged 16"x20" print ready for shipping.
Some framed prints, ready for hanging!
I do not ship framed prints (shipping costs would be prohibitive). This photo is only to illustrate some of my matted and framed prints.
